This began as an experiment to see whether I could take a simple 3D asset sitting in my archive, and using Da Vinci fusion create complex visual elements using a node based workflow.
These reminded me heavily of Japanese clan crests and medieval heraldic crests with a space age twist. I would like to explore this concept further in the future perhaps by designing a series of character.
On a more technical note what I ended up with was a procedural system in Davinci Fusion that I could use to generate a myriad of different patterns and designs in a short amount, it would also be interesting to see if this could be recreated in houdini as a 3D asset.
